Teeter-Totter
A tradition that has been
carried on for another year was the teeter-totter. Teeter-totter is a
fund-raiser that involves two people being on the AKL teeter totter twenty-four
hours a day for a week. This year we paired up with the women of Sigma Sigma
Sigma to help raise money for the American Cancer Society. It rained all most
every day and was extremely cold at times, but that didn’t keep the guys or
girls from showing up and keeping someone on the teeter-totter. This year
Sophomore Daniel Bauer and Junior Matt Miles both were on the teeter-totter for
insane amounts of time. Daniel Bauer rode the teeter-totter for seven
consecutive hours on the third night because he said he was having too much fun
to leave. Matt Miles decided to bring a T.V. and watch the first season of the
OC on the teeter-totter which lasted for twelve hours. After the end of the
week we raised over five hundred dollars that was donated in full to the Cancer
Society. This was the most money that had ever been raised during teeter-totter
which was organized by Junior Adam Dockery.
Study Abroad
During the Fall semester AKL had
four brothers study abroad in Spain. Sophomore Josh Kapple, Junior
Chad Egelhoff, Junior Paul Vornholt, and Senior Will Baird
all left the United States
during the second week of the fall semester to take classes in Spain. They said
that they had an amazing time and that it is crazy how different other countries
are compared to the U.S.
They visited many cities in Spain including Sevell. On the trip they learned a
lot about the culture and the language which has help some of them get a Spanish
minor. Although they weren’t really ready to come home it is always nice to
return to 918 S. Osteopathy.
